COULD YOU HOST A BOOK MONSTERS EVENT?

Book Monsters invites children and young people of all ages to devour stories and have fun reading while raising much-needed funds for the Children’s Book Project. Whether children are sponsored per page or book, every word they read makes a difference. Every £5 raised enables us to gift six beautiful books to a child at primary school.

We have partnered with SuperKind, an award-winning, free platform for schools which brings active citizenship and social action into the classroom. Register your Book Monsters event online with Superkind and create your own fundraising page. Alternatively you can reach out to Fundraising@childrensbookproject.co.uk to let us know more about your event in person.

Sign up as part of your school or community group and take on the monster challenge!

HOW TO RUN BOOK MONSTERS

  1. Sign up - get started by registering your Book Monsters event. Parents, teachers, and schools can all create accounts on Superkind. Children can also register, but parental permission is required to validate their details.
  2. Choose a challenge - invite children to select their Book Monsters challenge from our suggested list below or design their own personalised goal. This helps them to stay motivated and excited throughout the event.
  3. Gather sponsorship - share their reading goals and fundraising page with friends and family.
  4. Dive into reading - support children to immerse themselves in books and stories. Visit your school or local library to broaden their access to new books, or set up a book swap with friends.
  5. Celebrate their success - share and showcase their achievements to maximise their fundraising efforts. Once they’ve completed their Book Monsters challenge, download the personalised certificate and celebrate their fantastic accomplishment!

MONSTER READING IDEAS

It’s all about setting a fun and inspiring target that children will enjoy working towards. Below are a few ideas, but any challenge can be taken on and we’d love to hear about the creative goals your readers choose.

  • Read a book from every genre; humour, mystery, adventure, or fantasy
  • Aim to finish as many books as their age
  • Set a daily page‑count goal
  • Try reading in 20 different places at school and/or home
  • Share a story aloud each night with a family member
  • Work toward completing an entire book series

ASKING FOR SPONSORSHIP

  • Ask family and friends: Ask people if they could kindly make a donation to their Superkind page, this is the best way to get started!
  • Share on social media: Help boost funds by sharing their goals and fundraising page on X, Facebook or your Instagram profile.
  • Share their progress: Keep everyone up to date with their challenge. Email the link to their page or create a poster to share with people.
  • Take on a Book Monsters dare: How about reading one of their books upside down or reading out loud against the clock to receive a bonus donation!

Visit our Fundraise at School for support with your fundraising event. Alternatively you can hold a fundraising event independently and pay in any money collected via the Donate Now button at the top of this page.
