Episode three: Clare Balding
Author and broadcaster Clare Balding is best known for her sports commentary on the BBC across eight Olympic Games, and most famously for the celebrated 2012 London Olympics. A lifelong passion for sport led to her success at BBC Sport, before she moved to BBC Radio 4, where she became known for the much-loved walking and talking series Ramblings. Along the way, she's written several books, a highly acclaimed autobiography My Animals and Other Family, plus several children's books.
Together with our host (BAFTA-nominated comedian, actor, author Rachel Parris), Clare reveals (at least) three children's books that have helped make her who she is today. Delivering not quite the soundtrack of her life, but the literary yarns that knit it together.
THREE BOOKS, THREE STORIES
Clare selects three titles that reveal a personal story:
- Childhood Favourite - the book that shaped who they are today
- Shared Book - a book read with someone special
- Gift to the Future - a title they wish to donate to inspire another child
